Steph's background in the equine industry includes extensive experience in traditional training & a variety of accomplishments in traditional competition. Steph took issue with the widespread welfare and ethical problems in the equine industry, which lead her to her current journey utilizing humane, science-based training methods. She describes her methods as "Trauma-Free" & "Trauma-Healing"

Current Projects

Steph mainly focuses on directing the Equine Rescue & Equestrian Academy programs. Steph is also currently working on two other projects. She is currently starting a program to assist other trainers in starting their own R+ lesson programs and is in the process of founding The Equine Clicker Show, an international competition for equestrians who utilize humane, science-based methods.

Education & Certifications

Steph's education includes studying Behavioural Neuroscience at UBC, studying animal training techniques used at zoos, aquariums, and aviaries, working with a variety of domesticated and exotic animals with the same humane, science-based principles she now applies to equine training. Steph is also a Veterinary Technician and has practiced in small animal & exotic animal clinics. Steph also has certifications and studies in Equine Psychology, Holistic Horse Care & Management, Equine Reproduction, Saddle & Tack Fit, Equine Nutrition, Hoof Care & Balance, Coaching Psychology, & more.


Steph owns her own 20-acre farm in Willard, MO. Facilities include enriched pastures and dry lots, 5 stall grooming barn with matted aisle, indoor lounge, climate-controlled tack room, indoor arena, four acres of hacking space with trail obstacles, reverse roundpen, and more. All facilities are liberty/tackless-friendly. SKE maintains an inclusive, supportive environment for all students & team members.

Steph is an educator & lifelong student of the horse
