Happy Trails!

We may miss them, we won't ever forget them, and we are so happy for them! Rehoming the rehabilitated rescues allows for more horses to come into the SKE program & means more lives saved!

RAY OF SUNSHINE

"HAPPY"

Happy is a 2012, 15.3 hh Appaloosa mare. She is a gorgeous buckskin roan who loves cuddles and treats!
She came to SKE with some fear issues due to becoming blind in one eye. She was rehabilitated and rehomed to a lovely home where she will be a trail companion!

SPRINKLE OF SUGAR

"CONFETTI"

Confetti is one of the four mares who managed to support her pregnancy through abandonment, starvation, rescue, and rehabilitation.

Confetti is approx 12 years old and ADORABLE! She is smart, sweet, and expressive! She is sure to make an amazing riding horse at her new home where she will be a pet/riding horse.

WHAT GOES AROUND

"KARMA"

Karma is one of the four mares who managed to support her pregnancy through abandonment, starvation, rescue, and rehabilitation.
She is a sweet, smart 21-year-old mare. She had clearly been mistreated and had a lot of learned helplessness (was very "shut down"). I was honored to be able to help her come out of her shell. She is now living a happy life as a pet/riding companion.

WANT S'MORE

"LIL MAN"

This tiny pony was rescued from an auction. He quickly learned the basics and was quickly nursed to health. Lil Man captured the hearts of everyone who met him, including Debbie, who travels from AR to take lessons here at SKE. Debbie's place is Mini Pony Heaven!! She has one of the best pasture paradise setups I've seen in this area, and it's all scaled to size for her pony herd! Lil Man loves his new home, new owner, and new herd.

PIANO MAN

"JAZZ"

Jazz is an adorable pinto Arabian cross gelding, born approximately 2017 or 2018. He had a lot of fear with people and was successfully rehabilitated with +R methods. He was adopted along with SKE & CARE Rescue's Hubba, to go live as a pasture companion and trail horse.
(in SKE Program in 2020)

HUBBA BUBBA

"HUBBA"

Hubba is a stunning liver chestnut gelding born around 2001. He had a deep fear of people and was one of the most challenging horses rescued by CARE during their large scale intake (the same one that the pregnant CARE Mares came from). He was severely emaciated and terrified, but he made amazing progress with his +R rehabilitation and is now living a cushy life as a companion and trail horse along with SKE Rescue horse, Jazz.

In Loving Memory

Here is a tribute to the old friends who taught us well

Tjerger van de Strubbenhof

"TJ"

Tjerger was Steph's first heart horse and first true love. He was pretty rough around the edges in the beginning, but his golden temperament took him far in Dressage and gave him an amazing retirement as a school horse, introducing many people to the joys of riding. (1998-2018)

Sweet Georgia Peaches

"Georgie"

Georgie was an amazing Hanoverian mare that unfortunately had a bit of a rough start. She had a debilitating genetic disorder and an injury as a foal, but she overcame everything and took on the world with the fire of a true chestnut mare. (2001-2019)
